Project Committee was formed on 8 January 2010. The Committee consists of the following members.

Mr Sewell has an MBA in Bus.Law (UNE), Bach.Social Science (CSU),Grad. Certificate Management (UNSW). He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD), and a Member of the Australian Institute of Management (AIMM). He is the CEO of Warrigal Care, a large non-profit aged care and community services organisation with 14 locations across NSW, Australia and is a Director on the board of the NSW Aged and Community Services Association. His voluntary positions include Board Directorships of Australian Heart Ministries, and he is Chairman of Fatherhood Foundation Dads4Kids, Lighthouse Church and its various entities. A husband and father with 3 children he is passionately involved in promoting causes that build community, family and the church. |

A Committee meeting was held on 24 January 2010 to discuss the planning for the 1st musical concert, including date, venue, format, theme, etc. Committee Members present: Qiyang and Shaoqiong Liu, Jenita Salilig. The 1st musical concert is to be held on 8 May 2010. The theme of the concert is "Wonderful Women", to inspire Illawarra families with the spirit of Mother's Day celebration. The concert will feature heart and mind thrilling piano, violin and dance sessions, as well as the involvement of hundreds of multicultural families in the region. Illawarra-based acclaimed musicians, such as Mr. Mark Matthews (pianist and composer), Ms Sarah Hindson (violinist and teacher), Mr. Jesse Pinazza (pianist) etc, will be performing at the concert. Lighthouse Church Wollongong will be supporting this project by hiring their facility free of charge as a hosting venue for this concert.

Lady Rita gave $100 to this fundraising project. She wrote: "I have long been a supporter of Catholic Missions. When my aunt received her first pound note from her first employment, she gave it to Catholic Missions". Thank you Rita - what a beautiful heart you have!

The first fundraising event of this project, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, has been very successful. 160 dozens of Krispy Kreme doughnuts were quickly sold out (tributes to the efforts by Shaoqiong and Jenny). Including other donation monies collected during this event, aprox $1000 (pending finalization) in total was raised.
A meeting was held early afternoon today to finalize the details of the "Wonderful Women" concert on 8th May (click here to view the concert program). Action items were assigned to members of the team. Rehearsal is scheduled for Tuesday 27th April. The team is excited about all is going well with the concert planning - "looking forward to the concert more each day", as violinist Sarah puts it.

The "Wonderful Women" musical concert on 8th May was a success. This success came from great team work, community support and involvement.

The concert has been truly a community event - a joyful Mother's Day celebration with a warm memory for many families to share. Congratulations also go to the winners of the Eldest Mum prize, the Youngest Mum prize, and two Happy Mother's Day prizes.

$10,000 from the funds raised to date has been delivered to Maoguang Christian Church . The church congregation is very appreciative of the generosity of the Australian people and has asked the Appeal team to pass on their heartfelt gratitude to all contributing to this great cause.
The church congregation also gives thanks to God for answering their prayers. In the recent months finances have kept coming in from Christian churches and friends both inside and outside China. The gap in funds to complete the new auditorium building is now reduced to just over $200,000. Praise to God!

Ambre Hammond Piano Recital Concert was held at St Mark's Anglican Church West Wollongong, in the sunny afternoon of 21 August 2010. More than 60 music lovers enjoyed the beautiful music by Ambre and the warm atmosphere of the afternoon tea at the end of the concert. Approx $1,200 was raised for China Church Building Appeal. "The music was truly beautiful. People who missed this concert may now have to travel to Sydney to be able to hear Ambre's music", one madam attending the concert commented.
The China Church Building Appeal team likes to thank Ambre for her great initiative and willingness to support this cause. Special thanks also go to St Mark's Anglican Church West Wollongong for allowing the concert to use the venue free-of-charge.

Recent donations have seen further transfer of 20k RMB funds from China Church Building Appeal to Maoguang Christian Church. Praise to God for His continuing supply of funds to Maoguang Christian Church allowing the smooth progress of the auditorium building project. To date, the construction of the new auditorium building is complete. Small jobs remaining include construction of the entrance and a few exterior touch-ups.

The Coordinators, Dr Qiyang and Mrs Shaoqiong Liu, visited Maoguang Christian Church on 3 October 2011 and were greeted by the leadership team of the Church. Dr and Mrs Liu saw first hand every aspect of the church building and gave praise to God for the beautiful new church building and well-equipped new auditorium.
