Introduction

This website is designed solely for raising funds, to the target amount of AU$50,000 in total, to help the reconstruction of the auditorium building of Maoguang Christian Church in China.

Maoguang Christian Church is the only Christian church in Gurao, a township with a population of around 130,000 about 300 kilometres north-east of Hong Kong.

The church auditorium was built in 1937. After some 70 years of use, the building had become much degraded and was recently classified by relevant governmental authorities to be an "unsafe" or "severely damaged" building. The same authorities requested the building to be demolished and replaced with a new building.

The Board of Maoguang Christian Church has developed a plan for a four-storey new auditorium building with an estimated cost of approx 4.5 million RMB. Recent love offerings from the congregation have been generous but there is still a large gap (close to 3 million RMB, or roughly AU$0.5m). The demolition of the old auditorium building has been completed and raw materials for the foundation of the new building have been ordered, which has taken up the majority of the available funds. Therefore new funds are urgently needed for this reconstruction plan to continue.

People in Gurao need God. The congregation of Maoguang Christian Church needs a house for worship and sharing the Gospel (Mark 16:15, Romans 10:13-15). My friend, if you believe in Jesus we are in the same family and we are God's blessing (Romans 10:11-12, John 13:34). We all know how much joy we have hearing the Gospel and how much impact God's love has in our lives.

I myself didn't hear the Gospel until I came to Australia when I was in my mid 30s. At the beginning when people shared with me the Gospel I even argued with them using the evolution theory by Darwin (which was what I was taught all my life till that point)! Even now the teaching I received when I was young still resides unconsciously in my brain and can at times represent a challenge to my faith (e.g., selfish/conditional love, own ambition, reliance on own strength to handle challenging situations etc). This tells me how important it is to receive the Gospel early in one's life (Matthew 18:2). A house of God would allow many children hearing the Gospel early and building their future lives on this strong foundation (Luke 6:48).

This reconstruction plan is a challenging task God places before Maoguang Christian Church and, ultimately, all of us for His kingdom. May I ask you to join in prayer with the congregation of Maoguang Christian Church that God opens the way, and the gate of finance, for the church (2 Samuel 7:27, Ezra 10:4, Romans 12:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:24). I also urge you to support financially if possible by making a donation to the project.

Please - let's take action for God's kingdom now!

God bless you.
